| The system is easy and it works. But it depends on the cat. It might take a month and a half, may be more if you encounter problems. You should go slower if the cat blocks on a step or another. But the result is greatly worth the time. Imagine the pleasure of having a cat without the trouble of a litter box! My first cat was nine months old when I decided to potty train him.
The two others around two. I once explain the method to someone with a four years old cat and he had no problem, going slowly of course. The cat doesn't touch the litter or the dropping any more, his paws remain clean. He doesn't bring dirt or germs on your furniture or pillow. As for the seat, the cat doesn't get it any dirtier than you and me. A normal cleaning is needed. Human feeces can cause illness too. At my home, I've replace the top of the toilet seat with another seat that we use. See the picture in the home page. I don’t have the answer to that one but I believe she could. If you should try the experience, let me know the result. That depends on the age of the cat. A young one will learn faster and an old on might never get use to it. My first cat was a little bit untamed so may be it was longer because of that. Mine do. They don’t use the toilet when they have the choice to go outside. They will on rainy days or sometimes at night. It's simplier with a cat that never goes out, especially during training. Matouroux followed us when we went to work in differents cities. He used the toilets in hotels or in apartments where we stayed, making no fuss. But not all cats like to travel! Having only to do that seems to me like a very good result! But I’ve heard in the last years about other cats that use the toilet, and even two siamese cats that could flush it. My cats use the toilet twice a day, once for each need. They often do the two in a short interval. A cat that is feed always at the same time of day will be a lot more regular that one who eats all day. It worked with all of my three cats, which is a pretty good result! But you must follow the four steps and be persistent. First find a bowl. I explain in the book what kind to get, and where (in Canada) to find it. Then there's the seat. You'll need an electric handsaw or manuel saw. There's pictures and details in the book. The book : My small book contains all the instructions and the photos that explain the system. I also explain how to make the seat. The whole thing only cost $16 can, shipping included.
